Our job is to help people become healthier, fitter, stronger and more mindful about the choices they make.

We should not:

  • Restrict foods from our diet
  • Make people feel bad about the choices they make regarding certain foods
  • Categorise food as ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’

We live in a world where there is an abundance of choices regarding foods. Wherever you go now in the world, there is the convenience to grab something to eat. This makes people’s lives so much easier—this isn’t a bad thing!

The reason people are becoming more overweight is not the convenience foods, it’s eating too many calories.

Weight loss vs weight gain is simply down to total calorie intake. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight. If you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

Finding the right balance

Does this mean that if 2 days per week I didn’t have breakfast, that’s bad?

Does that mean that if it was my friend’s birthday and had some cake that’s bad?

Does that mean that at a BBQ I had a burger with a bun, that’s bad?

No! Of course it doesn’t. If your energy balance (calories in vs calories out) is consistent on a weekly basis, then it’s absolutely fine.

Cake, carbohydrates, low-calorie drinks and other types of food are not bad for you if you are consuming them in moderation.

Becoming healthier and losing weight does not mean you have to restrict things and live in a dark hole until you’ve lost all the weight.

We need to be real and find a balance in life, enjoy foods, but be mindful about the amount of foods we consume.
